Dig Your Own Mount Shasta Opal

We have had dozens of people come into our store over the years asking us if there was anywhere around Mount Shasta where they can go dig their own crystals. We had always pointed them far away from here, as the closest place to dig was about a 4-hour drive. And after years of these inquiries and having this idea, we have finally opened our own pay dig experience! Unlike the opal pay digs in Nevada, where you're given a scoop of clay and you just get whatever is in the clay, we decided to make ours more rewarding than that. We bring the opals down from where they are originally extracted and bury them with mother earth once again to be uncovered by you! The buried opals are of the same quality we sell in our store. We offer 4 different sized bags for you to pick from and fill with gorgeous opals. While we would love to bring people to where it directly comes out of the earth, the road to get up to it is very treacherous, and we would hate for anyone to get hurt. So, we bring the opals down to Tranquility Gardens!

When you arrive at Tranquility Gardens someone will be there to greet you and get you set up in our dedicated Opal dig area. It shouldn't take long to fill up your bag, and there are many high quality specimens, so feel free to be selective while you dig to maximize your experience. Expect to get dirty! Digging for Opals can be a messy endeavor. There will be a wash station where you can wash your hands, but your clothes and shoes will get dirty. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the environment, none of the dig area nor the portable toilet are currently handicap accessible.
